PREMISE
At
aungier, characters awaken to find themselves on the Aungier Estate in 1888, living the lives of people in or involved with the Valdemar family- what's more, they, to begin with, wholeheartedly believe that they are these people, with a head full of new memories and connections and experiences to back them up. Whether they find themselves inhabiting the role of a maid or one of the family's golden children, they will- to begin with, at least- live as their new, false memories dictate they should, and interact with the rest of the world and the other characters in the house without giving the slightest thought their true past lives, with the eccentric Lady and Lord Valdemar presiding over them.
As time passes, however, characters will begin to have nightmares- snatches of their old lives will start to appear in their dreams, and they will start to realise that the patchwork of unlikely stories and discrepancies that makes up Aungier House' inhabitants simply doesn't add up. As their real memories return, they will find themselves caught between daring to believe the truth and finding the courage to abandon the life their false memories have furnished them with in order to find the truth.
While they struggle to unravel the mystery, though, characters will also find that they aren't simply up against themselves and their new place in the social hierarchy: the world around them is not just confusing but actively hostile. Aungier House, the inescapable moorlands and even the sleepy town of St. Erasmus are home to an unsettling underworld of malevolent and even supernatural forces of their own, and it seems as though they only seem to grow with every passing day.
What will they do- give in to their new life and force themselves to believe what they know to be a lie? Fight to regain their memories and uncover the dark secrets underpinning Aungier House?
Or will they fall apart completely?
